Need Help?

How to Get Furniture and Household Items

theExchange provides gently used furniture and essential household items free of charge to people in need within the greater La Crosse area.

To receive items, you must be working with an advocate or case worker at a social service agency.

If You Don’t Have an Advocate

In order to receive services from theExchange, you must have an advocate and they must attend the appointment with you.

We accept referrals from over 30 local organizations which include public/private agencies, school and ministries. The following programs may be a good place to start if you are in need of an advocate to accompany you to theExchange.

How It Works

  • Work with Your Advocate

    • Ask your advocate or case worker to contact theExchange to set up an appointment.

    • Your advocate will complete a home visit and questionnaire.

  • Attend Your Appointment

    • Your advocate will accompany you to your appointment at theExchange.

    • During the visit, you will select the items you need for your home.

Important to Know

  • Our mission is to provide the basic home essentials you need to get started.

  • Because we depend on community donations, we may not always have certain items you are looking for.

  • Later visits for additional or replacement items are not allowed.
